Terms and Conditions
Before using or purchasing the Irish Family History Foundation's or its member centres' products and services you must agree to the following terms and conditions that define your rights, responsibilities and benefits. This applies to any users of any of the IFHF or its member centres' datasets. By using the index search on the www.rootsireland.ie website and/or paying to view search results or data on it you agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions.
The terms and conditions covers registering to use the free search that is limited to 100 searches only, the purchase of credit, the use of and payment for the index search, and paying to view the details of any single record. In order to register you need to accept our terms and conditions.

You must register with us to use the website. If you are under 18, do not register unless you have permission from your legal guardian to do so. We reserve the right to ask you to provide us with a copy of identification that will verify your age.
Please keep your log in details private at all times. You must keep your personal information accurate and up to date, including your email address.
On completion of the registration process you will have the ability to perform 100 single searches of the index on the site. You may only use www.rootsireland.ie and its contents for your own personal, non-commercial use, i.e. to research your own family history. You cannot provide third parties with details of any of the records that you have paid to view, even if you provide them for free.
Access will be limited at the discretion of the IFHF and its member centres.
There is no membership of the Irish Family History Foundation site or its individual centres' sites. Each search of the database and any single record are available on a pay to view basis only.
Usage of the site does not imply any permanent benefit or warranty. Access to this site is at the discretion of the IFHF and its member centres. The websites are owned and operated by the IFHF.
"You" or "your" means an adult user of the online research service (ORS) for itself, and you as parent or guardian for any minor who you allow to access the online research service, for whom you will be held strictly responsible. Your use of the ORS indicates that you are bound by this agreement with us. If you do not agree with any of these terms and conditions do not use the site.
The IFHF may alter this agreement at any time. Check each time you use the site for changes to the agreement. Your continued use of the site after any change indicates your acceptance of that change. If you do not accept the change do not use the site.

The records and features of this website exist because the participating county genealogy centres have spent time and money to make them available online. These organizations own the intellectual property rights of the records and website features. You may use the content on the website for private and non-commercial purposes only. You may not use the records to create your own work (e.g. a database of records, an article, publication), copy or reproduce the records (either in whole or in part), or make available, share or publish them unless you have our permission in writing.
Access to the index of records requires that you register with the Irish Family History Foundation by providing your name, address and email details. There is no cost involved with registration.
When you register you will be given 100 FREE search credits which will allow you to view 100 pages of search results for free. Once these are used up and you want to continue searching or to view full record details, you will have to purchase credits.
For a limited time, when you purchase credits, you will be able to view 1 page of search results for FREE for every credit that you purchase.
For example if you purchase 350 credits, you will be able to view 350 pages of search results for free.
To view a single page of search results, will either use up one of your free searches or it will cost you 1 credit.
Any user who was registered on www.rootsireland.ie on or before 18.03.2012 will need to purchase credits in order to perform searches of the index.
All prices quoted are in Euro (€).
Each time you do a search you are told how many records have been located matching your search criteria. Before displaying the results you have the opportunity to re-define or narrow the search, without displaying the results. If you decide to view the results they will be displayed in pages each containing a maximum of 10 records. One page of results costs 1 free search or 1 credit.
If you decide to view any single record's details it will cost 25 credits per record. Bulk buy options are also provided which will decrease the price of a single record.
The current purchase options are listed in the top up page under my account
